We love Stacy's Pita Chips but have found that they are not readily available in the UK. So, of course, I had to figure out how to make them myself! And I'm glad I tried because they are very easy to make! Plus you can season them with whatever you like! So here's my version of baked pita chips! They go great with any kind of dip and are delicious on their own too! Enjoy!
Pita Chips Recipe Cooking Time: 20 Minutes (Approx)
Serves 4-6 People
INGREDIENTS:
Pita Bread (White or Whole Wheat)
Olive Oil
Salt
Garlic Powder (Optional)
METHOD:
Preheat the oven to 190ºC.
Cut the pita bread into 2 halves, separating the top and bottom layers. Pile them up according to the thicker and thinner layers as the baking time will vary.
Then brush each side of the pita halves with a little bit of olive. Don’t add too much, but just enough so the seasonings can stick.
Cut the pita into bite size pieces.
Spread them out evenly on the tray then sprinkle them with the seasonings of choice.
Spread them out again into a single layer.
Then place them in the oven to bake for 13-15 minutes, checking to see if they are lightly brown and crisp.
Remove the chips that are nice and crisp and continue to bake the chips that are still slightly soft. The chips will crisp up more as they cool.
You can continue to cook any chips you feel are not completely crisp.
Once all the chips are done, let them cool.
Then place them in a zip tight bag or an airtight container.
Enjoy with any dips of your choice or even by themselves!
