My mother-in-law makes this delicious masala that it specifically for Kadhi and it makes the Kadhi tastes so delicious! You get so many flavour profiles in the Kadhi that keeps others wondering what is in it! Not only does it taste amazing, but the fresh ingredients also have many health benefits!
These fresh, aromatic herbs and spices make for a traditional Surti (Someone from Surat, Gujarat) Kadhi Masala, so do try it and add it to your Kadhi the next time you make it! You'll get to taste a delicious Gujarati meal just like a Surti!! Enjoy!!
Kadhi Masala Recipe Prep Time: 10 Minutes (Approx)
INGREDIENTS
1 Cup Amba Haldi /Mango Turmeric / White Turmeric
1 1/2” - 2” Piece Fresh Turmeric
1 Cup Full Fresh Curry Leaves
1 Cup Full Fresh Coriander (Coarsely Chopped)
1/2 Cup Pigeon Peas / Tuver Beans
1/4 Cup Fresh Dill
1-1 1/2 tsp Oil (optional)
METHOD
Wash and scrub the skin of the white and yellow turmeric. Cut them into pieces.
Look over the Pigeon Peas and remove any that look like they have been eaten by bugs.
Prepare the remaining ingredients by washing, drying and chopping as needed.
Grind all the above ingredients in a spice grinder. Add a little oil if desired.
Freeze in a plastic bag as shown in the video or in an ice-cube tray.The pieces should be about 1/2 tsp so you can add more or less as needed.
