My mother-in-law makes this mulled wine for us every year and it is simple and delicious. When my boys were younger, she used to make a non-alcoholic version for them and they loved it!! Enjoy!
Mulled Wine Recipe Prep Time: 20 minutes (Approx)
INGREDIENTS
750ml Bottle of Red Wine like Merlot, Zinfandel or Pinot Noir
1/2 Wine Bottle of Water
2 Oranges (Use 1 1/2 if they are large)
16 Whole Cloves
3 Pieces Cinnamon
3-4 TBSP Brown Sugar
Non-Alcoholic Mulled Wine Recipe Prep Time: 20 minutes (Approx)
INGREDIENTS
750ml Apple Juice, Clear or Cloudy
1/2 Cup Water (Or Use Less)
2 Oranges (Use 1 1/2 if they are large)
16 Whole Cloves
3 Pieces Cinnamon
3-4 TBSP Brown Sugar
Sliced Apple to Serve
METHOD Wash the oranges in very hot water or soak them in very hot water to remove the wax coating. Then cut each of them into 8 pieces.
Poke 1 clove into each piece of orange.
Put all the ingredients into a non-reactive pan and bring to a simmer on medium heat.
Simmer for 1-2 minutes, then let it sit so the flavours and meld. It is best to make this in the morning so that it is ready in the afternoon.
When ready to serve, warm it up gently so it's warm enough to drink.
