Sauteed Green Beans Recipe Cooking Time: 11 Minutes (Approx)
Serves 3-4 People (As a Side Dish)
INGREDIENTS
160g (5-6 oz) Trimmed Fresh Green Beans
1/2 Small Onion, Finely Chopped (About 2 TBS)
1 Garlic Clove, Crushed
2-3 tsp Light Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper to taste
METHOD
If you have bought green beans in bulk, trim the tops (the stem where they were attached to the plant), but don't trim the tail. Give the beans a rinse under cold water and set aside to drain.
In the meantime, peel and finely chop 1/2 a small onion and crush the garlic. Keep aside.
When you are ready to cook the beans ( about 15-20 minutes before you're ready to eat), heat up a large frying pan on a medium heat.
Add 2-3 tsp of light olive oil and let it heat up a little bit.
Add the crushed garlic and let it fry for 30 seconds to a minute, just until it is cooked and changes colour.
Tip: Don't let the garlic go brown as it will cook further with the onions.
Add the onions and let them cook for about a minute or so, until they go opaque.
Add the green beans, some salt and pepper to taste and stir. Cover and let this cook.
Stir the beans every few minutes. Cook until they are al dente. You don't want them completely cooked through as they taste better if they have a little crunch.
Enjoy with your main course or just say them as a healthy snack! ENJOY!!
